Meet the Founder

Crystal was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from the Vet Tech Institute and passed the VTNE in 2008. Since then, she has held licenses in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and Arizona.

Her career has been dedicated to helping animals through specialty and emergency nursing, as well as community programs that offer low cost services to the public.

VETERINARY HUMANS started off as a form of self-care, but it quickly became a deeper conversation amongst her peers. When she realized her vulnerability was not a weakness, that she could lean on trusted colleagues for support, she saw how it affected her resilience. Her transparency in managing a lifetime of anxiety, depression and neurodivergence had come with a variety of personal and professional challenges. There is only so much self-care one can do to combat the systemic toxicity within our profession.

In 2022, she launched an online merch store in an effort to make her idea more tangible. Seeing her friends, family, and peers wearing a VETERINARY HUMANS shirt felt like a gentle way of instilling the notion that veterinary professionals above all else, are human first.

She deeply believes in this community and wants to offer you a safe space to share what makes YOU human!
